Hi Young Women,
Here is a post to help to show you how the blogging thing works. Hopefully this will inspire you to keep a journal or make a scrapbook, even if it's not through a blog. Journal writing is REALLY important. Later in your life, you will want to remember the different things you were going through when you were a teenager, and you will love seeing old pictures of you (even though you will look at them and think, "I was SUCH a DORK!"). You will especially want to remember spiritual experiences you had, and how you gained a testimony of God's love for you and of Christ's church. You can start a blog just for you and make it private, in case you want to write really personal stuff on it. Even if it's private, though, you can invite other specific bloggers to see it. You can also put links on your blog to other blogs, so you can see what's going on with other people. A blog is also a great way to share what you believe with anyone who visits your blog. You can write about Gospel principles as part of your daily/weekly/monthly posts.
Blogs are more about keeping track of what's going on in your life than they are about friends or socializing. I recommend a blog as a great way to keep a journal/scrapbook, without all the scraps and scribbles. And you can print your blog off in book form so you have a physical copy to hold and pet and love and pass on to your kids.
Here are some terms in case you are confused:
Blog=Web-log (log=journal or record)
Post=An addition to your blog that you write
To Post=to publish an addition to your blog
Widgets/Gadgets=little extra tidbits on the side of your blog (like a calendar or links to other blogs)
To Slurp=to pull the information from your blog into another blog, or into a book
